PhD Candidate of the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean

Ioanna Chatzelli is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of the University of Ioannina. and has a master’s degree in Toxicology from the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the University of Thessaly. She is a researcher with experience in instrumental analysis. Specifically, she has worked as an analyst in the laboratory of the Department of Chemical Services of Mytilene where she was trained in the chemical examination of alcohol-alcoholic beverages, wine, olive oil and drugs as well as in the control of the proper functioning of the laboratory equipment within the framework of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. She collaborated with the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the University of Thessaly as a researcher for the study of the metabolic profile of exhaled air as for the diagnosis of human respiratory diseases, where she was trained in the method of Gas chromatography-Mass spectrometry. She is a PhD candidate at the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean, since 2022. Her research is being carried out within the framework of the Project Center for Circular and Sustainable Bioeconomy (Aegean_BIOECONOMY) and focuses on nickel (Ni) phytoextraction using hyperaccumulator plant species.
