Niki Boukouvala is a PhD candidate in the Department of Product & Systems Design Engineering, University of the Aegean. He graduated from the undergraduate program of the department in 2019, in the field of computer-aided design. Her professional and research interests concern visual communication, design for sustainability and the development of biomaterials. In her dissertation she was involved in the development of a biomaterial from mycelium, and collaborated with the Agricultural University of Athens. During the Erasmus+ internship in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with the team of THE NEW RAW, she worked into practical concepts of circular economy and strengthened her skills in visual communication, computer-aided design and 3D printing, through interesting projects focused on sustainability and new technologies.
